Why you need Healthcare Information Systems?
Many healthcare institutions still use paper-based system of keeping the medical records like patient information, medical history etc. Lack of awareness on the advantages of HIT (Healthcare Information Technology) among many healthcare institutions is the key reason for not using computer based systems. The problem with such an old paper-based system is that it requires significant amount of storage space and it becomes difficult and time consuming to collate information quickly. Right information at the right time helps the healthcare provider deliver quality services to his patients.
To facilitate the seamless flow of information within a medical facility, a computerized system of recording has been developed which is being increasingly put into usage by many such institution due to the unique features and benefits associated with the system.
The system has a host of integrated services required by a hospital while dealing with a patient right from the point of admission till discharge.
The implementation of such systems is not just limited within an organization but can be used to communicate with others as well on a global level, thus facilitating information exchange.
This, in turn, helps patient data available to other hospitals within or outside a country.
